LATROBE City has notched up its third consecutive victory in division one men’s basketball on Saturday.
Energy recorded a 10-point away victory against Chelsea Gulls to remain in fourth position on the Watson pool ladder.
Russell Permenter and Nicholas Sedley top score for the Energy with 23 points and 22 respectively.
It was a tight start for Energy, with the scores locked at 21-all going into the first break.
Latrobe City broke away in the second quarter to take a seven-point lead into the main break and increased the margin again in the third with the scores reading 78 to 64.
The Gulls pushed the Energy in the final quarter to outscore them by four points, but it was not enough as Latrobe City powered on to record its 13th win of the season, 103 to 93.
Kevin Johnson (31 points) and Darren Best (23 points) top scored for Chelsea.
Latrobe City division one women’s team also found some success on the court, when it defeat Craigieburn Eagles 65 to 55.
Jamilee Pearce against top scored with 25 points as the Energy controlled the majority of the match to record its sixth win of the season.
Latrobe City began strongly to fire off to a 16 to nine lead at the first break, before the Eagles fought back in the second quarter, but still trailled by nine points.
The Energy again extended their lead with a 12 to nine third quarter.
The Eagles flipped the tables in the final term to outscore the Energy by two points, but Latrobe City held on to record the 10-point victory.
