Australian Bradley Mousley ensured the green and gold contingent at the AGL Loy Yang ITF Traralgon Junior International did not leave empty handed.
Mousley and Austrian Lucas Miedler claimed the boy’s doubles title on Wednesday night with a 7-6(1), 6-3 win over Aussie duo Daniel Guccione and Marc Polmans.
This time last year, Mousley and Miedler were on opposite ends of the court, with the Australian defeating the Austrian in the doubles final at the Australian Open.
This year, they are teammates.
“After he beat me in the final last year, I had to play with him this year,” Miedler said.
The pairing proved to be a powerful combination in Traralgon.
“We still take it serious, but we try and also have fun together because doubles is about having fun out there,” Mousley said.
The girl’s doubles final was won by top-seeded pair Russian Anastasiya Komardina and Serbian Nina Stojanovic.
They defeated Chinese duo Shilin Xu and Xiaodi You, 7-5, 6-3.
“It was really great, we were playing for the first time together and I really enjoyed it,” Komardina said.
The girls had never played in conditions as hot as they were in Traralgon last week, but they said they were keen to return.
“We’re going to play in Melbourne also in the (Junior) Australian Open and I hope that we can get a good result and I really hope I’m going to come here next year because I really like it,” Stojanovic said.
