TRARALGON RSL hosted Yallourn in a tense West Gippsland Bowls round six matchup on Saturday.
After a back and forth session of impressive bowls Yallourn led overall by four shots at the fifth end.
On the eighth end David Hodson (RSL) picked up a four to draw within two shots of George Lambos (Yallourn).
Consistent bowls saw Kevin Lovett (Yallourn) lead Maurice Gardiner (RSL) by eight after 10 ends. At the tea break Ken Capper (Yallourn) lead Rick Lukey (RSL) by three and Alan Grubb (Yallourn) led David Morley (RSL) by four, with Yallourn ahead 61-33 overall.
After tea a six shot pick up by Lukey’s rink made for an interesting game, with Capper coming back to draw 23 all.
Consistent bowling by Grubb’s rink saw his quartet defeat David Morley’s team 26-14.
Lovett’s foursome’s continued dominance resulted in a victory over Maurice Gardiner 28-21.
Hodson’s rink tried hard all day but went down to George Lambos 18-37, thanks largely to an inspired effort from Alex Houston.
The final score was Yallourn 114 defeated RSL 76 with wins on three rinks and a draw on the other.
In other division one matches Moe had a surprising two shot win over top of the ladder side Traralgon 103-101, Morwell Club won convincingly against Warragul 97-88, Trafalgar is back in business after winning on all four rinks with a score of 116-97.
In Division two Neerim District suffered its first loss for the season with a thumping from Garfield who won on all four rinks with a final score of 124-61.
WGBD LADIES STATE FOURS
The Drouin quartet of Denise Hamilton, Maureen Leighton, Pauline Appleyard and Margaret Ratcliffe won the ladies state fours in convincing fashion.
