Devils dig deep

MOE United Soccer Club is set to conduct major works on its junior pitch over the Australia Day weekend in a volunteer-driven working bee.

The Red Devils plan to remove all topsoil from the outer side of the fields and lay gravel to form two new parking areas.

They will also install a new drainage system and complete trenching and cabling on the junior ground to allow the addition of two new lighting towers.

With 20 to 30 volunteers anticipated each day, it will be the largest single project ever undertaken at the club.

The club has put the call out to volunteers to assist in the undertaking, which will include an estimated 200 metres of trench digging and substantial earth moving.

Latrobe City Council, the soccer community and private sponsors have backed the initiative.
