Finals flame alive

LATROBE City Energy kept its finals flame flickering with a desperately needed BigV division one men’s victory away to Camberwell on Saturday.

The reigning premier snuck back into the top eight at the expense of Camberwell on head-to-head results with one round left to play.

The whole squad fired to engineer a 92-80 victory and kept the side on the road to the playoffs.

United States import Terrance Beasley turned in one of his most influential performances to date, racking up a game high 19 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.

Jarryd Moss and Billy Hughes both netted 15 points, Jordan Canovan 14, and Simon Vannapreseuth nailed four of five three pointers in 13 minutes of court time.

The side now faces Melbourne University at home on Saturday, where a win should see it through to the playoffs.

Energy’s women also remain on track to play finals, sitting fifth on the ladder despite a loss to Camberwell at the weekend.
