TRARALGON boxer Jarrod Zuehlke punched well above his weight at the Australian Amateur Boxing Titles but still came close to a national crown at Marrickville Town Hall, Sydney last month.
The Victorian super middleweight champion had to settle for silver, losing a split points decision in the final against Michael McConnell, whose record of 60 plus bouts was more than 10-fold on Zuehlke’s tally of four.
“Chris Peters, Ronnie Conway, Clinton Johnson and Craig Morris thank you all for everything you’ve done. I couldn’t have made it this far without you,” Zuehlke said.
“Close friends and family support has been nothing but amazing… the bounce back begins.”
The Traralgon Boxing Club member defeated Mark Rubino for the state title in Blackburn prior to contesting the national championships.
