GIPPSLAND Power was unable to match its first round heroics against Sandringham in round two of the Youth Girls Academy challenge at Frankston on Saturday.
The Power girls went down 5.5 (35) to 2.2 (14) to the Dragons after another slow start, which this time proved costly.
Sandringham held Gippsland to a single behind throughout the first half to build a 21-point lead at the main change.
The Power went even in the second half as both sides registered 2.1 (13).
Nikia Webber and Shelby Felmingham kicked Gippsland’s goals, while Lily Van Berkel received the best on ground votes.
Gippsland faces another tough assignment this weekend against Dandenong at Garfield on Sunday.
