Mixed fortunes for Energy

LATROBE City Energy’s division one men ended the weekend with an additional win and loss to its ledger.

In the first of two matches for the week, Energy was no match for a fast-starting Warrnambool which shot out to a 65-39 lead by half-time.

Energy turned the tables to win the second half 45-43, but the half-time deficit was too great, with second-placed Warrnambool winning 108-84.

Jordan Coleman was the top point getter with 24, while a double-double to Raheem Lemons (22 points and 17 rebounds) ensured his presence was felt during the match.

Another double-double (11 points, 15 rebounds) to Lemons in Sunday’s match against fifth-placed Shepparton helped Energy across the line for a 71-64 win.

In the second match of the weekend Energy fought a closely contested game, with Coleman again top scoring for Latrobe City with 20 points.

Energy walked away with the points and was well served by Stephen O’Brien with 13 points and nine rebounds.

The weekend’s mixed results helped Energy secure its grip on a position in the top eight.

This Saturday night Energy takes on 11th-placed Keysborough.
