The Blues led at every change, something Thorpdale coach Janene Havers attributed to her side’s determination.
“When they got on the court they were just determined from the start,” Havers said.
“Mirboo North is a great team, but I think our girls just had that determination just from the get go from when the first whistle went.”
She said the team put in a solid performance across the court and said it was impossible to identify a standout player.
“I couldn’t skip any of them,” Havers said.
“Everyone did a fantastic job – it was a really team effort.
“I didn’t even give best on court awards because there was no-one who was better than any other.”
The result denied the Tigers a third straight A grade flag.
Havers paid tribute to the defeated Mirboo North outfit, which she described as a “really solid” team.
“Mirboo North are a fantastic team and we were really glad we played them… because of the respect we have for them,” she said.

Given the Blues’ hard work, Havers said she was confident they could get the result.
“I was confident from the start that they were going to win,” she said.
“They’ve had a fantastic season, they’ve only lost three games, one being a qualifying final.”
The result sends Havers off in the best possible way, with the coach confirming she would not continue in the position next season.
In other grades, Morwell East claimed the B, C and D grade premierships.
In B grade, the Hawks defeated Newborough 54 to 32 and in C grade they beat Yinnar 46 to 15.
In D grade, Morwell East defeated Newborough 28 to 21.
In the 17 and under grade Trafalgar overcame Yinnar 28 to 24 and in 15 and under Yallourn-Yallourn North defeated the Bloods 34 to 26.
