The Traralgon and District Cricket Association has put out the call for women interested in trying their hand at one of Australia’s number one summer sports in its bid to field a side in this year’s Gippsland Cricket League competition.
The TDCA will host a meet and greet and training night at Traralgon Indoor Sports Centre tomorrow at 6pm.
Tomorrow’s meeting marks the second time the group has trained together.
Association president Kevin Foley said the league was working with the CATS Cricket Club in its bid to establish the team.

The TDCA is one of the few Gippsland associations which is not represented in the GCL women’s competition, with Central Gippsland club Morwell providing the only opportunity for women to play cricket in the Latrobe Valley until now.
Women’s cricket has received more interest in recent years, following Cricket Australia’s decision to professionalise its women’s side and the launch of the Women’s Big Bash League twenty20 competition.

Games are not played every week, meaning players are to compete without sacrificing every weekend.
