The forecast weather for Saturday was not promising for bowls and a number of matches were transferred due to the wet conditions.
The weather was miserable, but very little time was lost due to rain showers throughout the
afternoon and all matches except one were completed.
Players need to be congratulated for playing through some difficult conditions.
DIVISION 1
Reigning premiers Newborough travelled to Traralgon RSL and in the battle of the greenkeepers Beau Williamson and his rink of Titch Hore, Max Aumann and Greg McRonald had a resounding 43-14 win over Scott Jones and his rink of Josh Kennedy, Tony Knipping and Alan Grubb.
Morice Gardiner and his rink of Chris Mackintosh, Dale Wilson and Alan Kanavan won 34-14 over Kevin Lovett and his rink of Brian Carpenter, Michael Weatherall and Rod Lewis.
The winning Newborough rinks were Nosha Michaels and his team of Jo-Anne Michaels, Neale Houston and George Lambos who defeated Rick Lukey and his team of Peter Barnes, George Cargill and Kevin Durwood 39-14.
Tommy Lodge and his team of Barry Daley, John Backman and Craig Thornton scored a 29-17 win over Ross Sizeland and his rink of Chris Brown, Ross McKenzie and Terry Hunter.
Traralgon RSL 14-108 defeated Newborough 4-96.
Traralgon travelled to Moe where Phil Mustoe got the ball rolling for the visitors with his rink of Ian Hilsley, Maurie Sutcliffe and Abe Roeder winning 33-16 over Sandy Caines and his rink of Rohan Willcock, David Mander and Barry Hawkett.
Vin McIlwain and his rink of Shane Chapman, Dave Currie and Chris Ward won 22-19 over Steve Pallot and his rink of Ian Caines, Bob Rennie and Michael Smogavec.
James Scullin and his rink of Ron Sherlock, Pat Trewin and Damien Barnes had a 25-16 win over Stuart Caines and his rink of Fred Martin, Jan Rudy and Ted Kuklinsky.
Matt Ferrari and his team of Kirsty Van den Hoff, Kevin Enguell and Ian Kirkup drew 19-19 with Jayde Leech and his team of Lachlan Sim, Michelle Muccillo and Banger Harvey giving Moe their lone point for the day on their return to Division 1.
Traralgon 19-99 defeated Moe 1-70.
Trafalgar welcomed Drouin with Paul Dawson and his rink of Ed Davies, Tim Anderson and Peter Jonas winning 40-16 over Sheryl Atkinson and her rink of Graham Aubrey, Steve Barr and Maureen Leighton.
Ian Miles and his team of Peter Rosenboom, Bruce Giles and Chris Bortignon won 29-19 over Samantha Atkinson and her team of John Bickerdike, David Tayles and Les Firth.
Tim Fraser and his rink of Graham Hill, Ian Riley and Ken Capper won 29-21 over Mark Atkinson and his rink of David McIlfatrick, Jan Aubrey and John Leighton. The lone winning rink for Drouin was Toby Wallace and his team of Denise Hamilton, Arthur Moore and Dale Hendrick who won 34-25 over Darren Kane and his rink of Sean Tatterson, Jim Lawrence and Nathan Fraser.
Trafalgar 16-123 defeated Drouin 2-90.
Rod Smith led the way for Morwell Club at home against Warragul with his team of Steve Kilpatrick, Dashaa Martin and Nobby Noblett winning 24-16 over Graham Davis and his rink of Ken Landman, Linda McCoy and Peter Gallasch.
Lee McKenzie and his rink of Michael Skinner, David Patience and Alan Campbell won 24-20 over Bill Clappers and his rink of John Vickerman, David Ferguson and Ken Scammell.
Andrew Glover gave Warragul some hope with his rink of Des Stephens, Terry Sullivan and Janette Gallasch scoring a 22-17 win over David Stevens and his rink of Bernie Marino, Roger Rejmer and Tara Harle.
The remaining match between Brett Harle and his home rink of Vaughan Reimers, Wayne Arnold and David Trembath drew 17-17 with Matt Schreyer and his team of David Alderman, Brian Kennedy and Noel Rubenstein.
Morwell Club 15-82 defeated Warragul 3-75.
DIVISION 2
Morwell travelled to Longwarry with Shashi Bhatti and his team of Bernie Detering, Keith Gadsby and Gerry Van Duin helping the visitors to a 34–17 win over Jason Lieshout and his team of Paul Buckner, Peter Lieshout and Grant Pask.
David Cook and his rink of Jim Turner, Kevin Pigdon and Laurie Melhuish won 20-18 over Adam Proctor and his rink of Ken White, Robert Proctor and Matthew Eccles.
Nathan Cook and his team of Ross Harford, Abbas Mehran and Wayne Bishop had another big win for the visitors, defeating Ken Towt and his rink of Hank Metselaar, Glenn Pask and Ian Peterson 35-29.
The lone winning rink for Longwarry was Russell White and his team of Elio Meggetto, Mark Serong and Barry White winning 29-11 over Ron Lyfield and his rink of Ron Draeger, Chris Goldsbrough and Brian Kingsley.
Morwell 16-100 defeated Longwarry 2-93.
Brian Thorpe and his Drouin (2) rink of Donald Mowat, Richard Joyner and Clive Newman won 32-28 over Neerim District’s Neil Adams and his rink of Robert Cook, Graeme Wingrove and Shane Hogan.
Bruce Andrews and his rink of Merv Appleyard, Rudy Kerkvleit and Andrew Kidd won 27-12 over Peter Brooks and his rink of Colin McKay, Gerry Englestad and Ross Pollard.
For the visitors, Peter Throup and his team of Karren Sheers, Ray Throup and Angus McGillivray won 24-19 over Phil Jarred and his rink of John Bulmer, Mary Firth and Neil Bullen.
Trevor Kuhnell and his rink of Jim Fallon, Pat Fraser-Aurisch and Chris Hogan won 26-22 over Necip Akarsu and his rink of Elaine Thorpe, Lyn Jeffrey and Terry MacFadzean.

For the visitors, John Wasiukiewicz and his rink of Kevin Myrteza, Sarah Ashby and Alan Ryan won 26-13 over Ron Osler and his rink of Gordon Bayley, Paul Hobson and Frank Metcalf.
Joan Goldie and her team of Stuart Gemmill, Wayne Butler and Robert Goldie won 23-15 over Joseph Ward and his rink of Ian Eddy, John Farquhar and Shirley McKenzie.
The home team was well served by Alan Jones and his rink of Eric Warfe, Jeff Blythman and Max Gibbins, who won 21-19 over Graham Cocks and his rink of Phil Marston, John Arnold and Fran Clark.
Gordon Asbury and his rink of Paul Matters, Max Plant and Julie Sutcliffe had a good win over Gary Ingley and his team of Graham Smith, Spencer Goss and Jeff Wetzel.

Traralgon (2) welcomed Thorpdale with the home side winning all four rinks. Austin Gapper and his team of Jedd Ladgrove, Bill Munday and William Francis won 28-17 over Ross Kennedy and his team of Wendy Jennings, Kath Geisler and Shane Chambers. Graham Cross and his rink of Matt Ogilvie, Ken Mooney and Ian Bloomfield won 25-14 over Ben Powell and his rink of Ian Simpson, Ron Mackie and David Ferguson.
Gary Locke and his team of Chris Thomas, Garry Trewin and Trevor James won 20-16 over Danny Vanzuylen and his team of Graeme Edwards, Wayne Butterworth and Scott Jennings.
Barry Fernance and his team of Bill Kirby, Al Hegarty and Kathy Smiles won 32-19 over Brendan Jennings and his rink of Brian O’Connell Darren Fraser and Denis Gunn.

Warragul (2) and Traralgon (3) did not start the game at Warragul due to a flooded green and shared the points.
Newborough (3) travelled to Yinnar and for the visitors Michael Holroyd and his rink of Brian Milkins, Julie Jackson and Heather Mooney won 35-13 over Russ Peters and his team of Kerryn Nicholson, Ray Tanti and Luka Djudurovic.
Robbert Cook and his rink of Mary Whelan, Dave Madden and Peter Bertoli scored four on the last end to record a 21-17 win over Murray De La Haye and his rink of Gordon Smith, Peter Bramley and Trevor Berryman.
Jim Cuthbertson and his rink of Christina Wagstaff, Peter Wonnacott and Ed Whelan won 22-17 over Tim Roche and his rink of Phil Williams, Jenny Harris and Meredith Kennon.
The lone winner for the home team was Gavin Osborne and his rink of John O’Neill, Robert Hooper and Ray Anstey winning 25-15 over Ken Bechaz and his rink of Ruth Verhagen, Carmel Goss and Wally Bechaz.

Garfield welcomed Boolarra with Stephen Whyte and his rink of Alan Wilson, Ray Biffin and Gary Helmore scoring a resounding 45-16 win over Graeme Colbert and his visiting rink of Keith Holmes, Eddie Dudek and Peter Mazou.
Steve Bassed and his rink of Barrie Smith, Gary Payne and Joe Lenders won 31-15 over Terry Parker and his rink of Tamara Traill, Hans Kasbach and John Cargill. Nick Henwood and his rink of Les Pumphrey, Ron Saunders and Tom Cleary won 29-18 over Bob Allen and his rink of Peter Gair, Angela Mazou and Joel Anderson.
Darren Napier and his rink of Tony Snell, Pam Allen and David Caldwell were the only Boolarra winners winning 25-18 over Shane Oliver and his rink of Graham Burton, Lex Taylor and Alan White.
Garfield 16-123 defeated Boolarra 2-74.
Moe (2) travelled to Morwell (2) and for the home team Peter Borradale and his rink of Bill Tumney, Shirley Skinner and Ken Turner led the way with a 36-13 win over Les Stolarik and his rink of Michael Rudy, Leigh Dodd and Rex Price. John Osborne and his rink of Linda Gurney, Darrell White and John Bradbury won 25-23 over Noel Savige and his rink of Jan Parniak, Bob Savige and Len Middling.
For the visitors, Brian Rodgers and his team of Rod Matthews, John Kerr and Val Rodgers won 26-21 over Bob Skinner and his team of Danny McKeown, Bill Tyben and Irene Biggs. John Woods and his team of Charles McArthur, Paul Read and Val Griffiths won 23-22 over Russell Williams and his team of Nick Marino, Jack Prendergast and Bob Wilson.

Morwell (3) travelled to Warragul (3) and had a narrow win over the home team.
For the visitors, Trevor Curtis had a 27-16 win over Lester Mason and Ian Auld had a 29-20 win over Roy Hammond.
For the home team, William Clarke had a 24-20 win over Keith Higgs and Keith Wilkins had a 25-13 win over Graham Hutchinson.
Morwell (3) 14-89 defeated Warragul (3) 4-85.
Yallourn North welcomed Trafalgar (2) and the home team had a good win with George Platschinda winning 35-12 over Frank Farrugia. Sherrie Stanton was too strong for Mal Clymo, winning 33-15 and Robert Matthews won 31–27 over Tony Dawson.
In the remaining match Darren Fry and Wayne Hurst tied 25–25.
Yallourn North 17-124 defeated Trafalgar (2) 1-79.
Drouin (3) had a clean sweep over Newborough (4), winning 18-117 to 0-65 with winning skippers being Gwen Price, Peter Hone, Lloyd Smith and Margaret Owens.
Yarragon travelled to Traralgon (4) and were unable to win a rink as Colin Mayman defeated Sam Mazza 28-23, Ian Wills defeated Kevin Arnold 27-24, Roger Davey took care of Jason Roberts 25-21 and Stuart Hulse defeated Jarrod Grigg 31-21.
Traralgon (4) 18-111 defeated Yarragon 0-89.
DIVISION 5
Morwell Club (3) 16-88 had a big win over Traralgon (5) 0-56.
The big winners for Morwell Club (3) were the rink of Mick Reynolds, Don Wight, Barry Flanigan and skip Gail Rejmer who won 31-13.
With only one rink up Traralgon RSL (2) 12-79 defeated Garfield (2) 4-65.
The best rink for the victors was Ian Hartley, Lyn Mackintosh and Craig Wilson and skip Margaret Morley, winning 39-17.
Neerim District (2) 16-83 defeated Churchill 0-53.
Morwell (4) 16-88 defeated Moe (3) 0-40.
The best winning rink was John Betteley, Bob Smith, Colin Grant and Ian Wilson winning 39-12.
DIVISION 6
Newborough (5) 8-53 defeated Longwarry (2) 2-47, Yallourn North 10-67 defeated Boolarra (2) 0-27, Yinnar/Churchill 10-48 defeated Thorpdale (2) 0-35 and Morwell Club (3) 8-51 defeated Traralgon (6) 2-39.
THIS WEEK
Premiers Newborough will be looking to get back on the winning list as they face old rivals Moe who have returned to Division 1.
Warragul will host a triumphant Traralgon RSL, Drouin after struggling at Trafalgar will host Morwell Club who will be looking for another good win.
Two winners from the opening round clash when Traralgon hosts Trafalgar.
In Division 2, Neerim District hosts Longwarry, Thorpdale hosts Drouin (2), Traralgon RSL (2) hosts Traralgon and Morwell hosts Newborough (2).
