A great time had at Grand Ridge parkrun

By STACEY HARRIAGE

IT WAS a mild December morning that greeted 22 smiling parkrunners and eight dedicated volunteers on Saturday.
Run director Jodie acknowledged the traditional land owners and welcomed everyone with a special welcome to Kim and Nadine from the Peninsula who made the trip up from their weekend camp site at Wilsons Prom to parkrun on the Grand Ridge Rail Trail.
We also welcomed GRRT first timers Carlie and local Kym.
The vibe on the trail was electric and reminded me why I love parkrun.
It’s been awhile since I’ve actually joined in, normally I’ll be on the volunteers side,
but there were lots of smiles, words of encouragement and a wonderful supportive feeling for participants – whether they’re running, walking or a bit of both.
We are so lucky to have the Grand Ridge Rail Trail here in Mirboo North and we’d like to give a huge shout out to the Committee of Management and the Wednesday Warriors who keep it in great condition for our
parkrunners and many more users.
It’s great to have parkrun back at the end of 2021 and we look forward to seeing many new faces and old friends back in 2022.
One more parkrun for us this year before a two-week break over Christmas and New Year.
If you’re super keen, our good friends down the road at Koonwarra and Inverloch will both be hosting parkruns on Christmas and New Year’s Day! Check out the parkrun Australia website for more details.
Cara Mahoney is our parkrun director this weekend – giver her a shout if you’d like to try your hand at volunteering.
