GCL heats up

GIPPSLAND Cricket League leader Bairnsdale will meet arch rival Sale Maffra at Wy Yung keen to maintain its unbeaten record in round three.

The home team has Rohan Blanford, Reagan Kyle and Scott Davison in good touch with Jamie Robinson and Marcus Latham doing the work with the ball.

Sale Maffra has endured a shocking start with two losses and will be hoping for Brett Lanigan, Brad Scott and Jack Tatterson to lead the way.

Central Gippsland will do battle with Warragul at the Maryvale Reserve, Morwell in a clash between two teams with one victory each for the season.

Josh Keyhoe and Matthew Hibbs did well with the bat in round two and the dynamic Rhys Holdsworth and Andrew Philip add strength to the lineup.

Warragul enjoyed a strong win over Leongatha in the last round and will be hoping in-form bowlers Dale Weller and James Williams can continue their good work.

Second placed Traralgon will host Leongatha at Yinnar in a traditionally robust encounter.

Traralgon has Ben Julin in sensational form with bat and ball and will be looking to Michael Warne and Jordan Gilmore to contribute.

Leongatha has started poorly but they have capable players in Tim Wightman, Mitchell Clark and Amilia Ratniake.

This will be a close one.
