Splash and dash

The Latrobe Valley Triathlon Club Aquathon Summer series fired off to a great start last Wednesday night at the Traralgon pool with a small field of competitors enjoying the first of a 10-race season.

In cool conditions the competitors got the 400 metre swim leg out of the way quickly with Heather Urie out of the water first and, as a team entry, handed over to Rosemary Ansell for the run leg.

However, the strong runners came to the front and Jacob Riley crossed the line first with Molly Irvine in second.

In the fun distance event Claire Gibson took first place with Kim Wittman second.

The 4km run leg up and down Kay Street proved a challenge for all but the race format was a great success with all involved looking forward to round two last night.

The 10-race series with fun and sprint is held each Wednesday night at the Traralgon pool and those interested in entering can phone the LV Tri club on 5174 7714.
