SWIMMING
TRARALGON scored its eighth successive Victorian Country Short Course Championships at the new Ballarat Aquatic Centre late last month.
The team of 70 dominated the points score, winning by more than 1500 points from its rivals Geelong and Warrnambool as 23 swimmers celebrated 80 podium finishes.
A whopping 18 Gippsland and three Victorian Country records were also broken by eight swimmers in an overall team performance described by senior head coach, Brian Ford as “outstanding”.
“All of the goals set by the coaching team in relation to points, medals and personal best swims (over 90 per cent) were achieved,” Ford said.
“The benchmarks of performance can be attributed to a driven team of swimmers ranging from eight to 28 who swam for the club first and foremost.
“A very pleasing result leading up to State Championships.”
