The Rosedale community is “ecstatic” to learn its child care centre is set to remain open into the coming financial year, thanks to almost $50,000 in funding.
The Rosedale Neighbourhood Kids Early Learning Centre announced on Thursday that funding from the Department of Social Services and Wellington Shire Council would allow the centre to remain open until June next year, subject to existing enrolments being maintained.
RNH manager Bodye Darvill said it was fantastic news and the funding would allow the centre time to tailor its service to meet community needs.
“The funding gives us the time to talk to the community and determine what it is they want from the child care service,” Ms Darvill said.
“We will be reviewing our finances and service monthly to look at what’s working and what’s not.”
The announcement comes a month after parents were told enrolments needed to increase by 34 places per week by 1 October or the facility would close come the end of this month.
Ms Darvill said the funding, along with additional enrolments, was enough to keep the facility sustainable into the coming year.
“It really is the best news we could have hoped for,” Ms Darvill said.
She said the centre was asking all interested families to enrol for long day care, after school care or kindergarten for 2016.
“We definitely want and need more enrolments. The more the better,” Ms Darvill said.
