ANY unsalted dogs looking to earn their sea legs can take their first nautical steps with the Latrobe Valley Yacht Club on Sunday.
LVYC will host a Discover Sailing Day to introduce locals to the sport as one of 65 clubs across the country running the program. Discover Sailing Days give everyone the chance to dip their toes in for free, with current members encouraged to take a friend.
Program manager Gavin Wall said more than 4000 people would attend Discover Sailing sessions, a major part of Victoria’s sailing calendar.
“The family atmosphere and opportunity to sail with experienced sailors, combined with the beautiful locations, really showcases club life,” Wall said.
Visitors should wear clothing and shoes that they are happy to get wet – non-marking soles are preferred – and take sunscreen and a hat.

The event will run from noon on Sunday to 5pm at LVYC at the Hazelwood Pondage.
