The sound of motorbike engines revving could be heard across Churchill at the weekend when a lawn mower racing competition took to town.
A skateboarding workshop, fire truck display, country market and community group stalls were also among the activities as part of the Churchill Community Festival.
About five hours of festivities ensued on Saturday around Philip Parade, all in the name of showcasing what the tight-knit town has to offer.
“I thought the day went really well – it was great to see so many people in and around the community hub,” Churchill Neighbourhood Centre coordinator Julia Leonard said.
“The feedback was good – people were glad to see lots of free or low-cost activities and a lot of the families who came seemed to stay for quite a while.”
Organisers will review the event and make a decision about how often to hold it, with Ms Leonard hoping the festival will become annual.
“Thanks to those who came to help make it a great day and particularly all the volunteers,” Ms Leonard said.
“We probably had over 40 volunteers down at the hub on the day, not counting the market or mower racing, so we couldn’t have done it without them.”
