Woodside Wildcats out to upset top Dogs

The top five is beginning to take shape in the North Gippsland Football Netball League.

Sale City remains undefeated at the top of the ladder with five wins, while Rosedale and Woodside are both on four wins each.

This week’s games will pit four of the top five teams against one another in a huge test for a majority of the leading quintet.

Sale City plays Woodside, while Rosedale play fifth placed Churchill, in a round which may change things up at the top.

Churchill v Rosedale

Second-placed Rosedale will be looking to bounce back after a shock upset to last placed Gormandale last week.

Fifth placed Churchill will be no ‘easy-beats’ either with the home ground advantage.

It’s difficult to pick a winner.

Sale City v Woodside

Ladder leader Sale City is not this year, but expect third placed Woodside to take the Dogs right to the wire.

Woodside is definitely an improving club.

Both teams still need to prove themselves against quality opposition and this week’s draw gives them an opportunity to do so.

Glengarry v Heyfield

Heyfield has played all top five teams this year except Woodside.

If the Kangaroos want to play finals, they need to pull their socks up, because two wins from five rounds is nowhere near where last year’s runner-up needs to be.

Glengarry is re-building and will be hungry to defeat anyone, especially a struggling club.

An upset is possible.

TTU v Yarram

Traralgon Tyers United has looked limp over the past few weeks and it doesn’t get any easier as the Bombers face in-form, fourth placed Yarram.

The home ground advantage won’t be enough for the Bombers who are coming off two losses.

Yarram has won the last three and will be hard to beat this week.

Gormandale v Cowwarr

Gormandale will take a lot of confidence from last week’s upset win against second placed reigning premier Rosedale.

The Tigers have been showing signs and last week the hoodoo was lifted.

Cowwarr on the other hand faces an uphill battle after another loss last week.

Expect a close game.

Netball

In NGFNL netball, fourth placed Churchill hosts undefeated, second-placed Rosedale in the match of the round.

Undefeated top side Woodside plays fifth placed Sale City in what should be another enthralling contest.

Third placed Glengarry will be looking to bounce back after last week’s loss when they take on sixth placed Heyfield.

The bottom four teams have a great opportunity to put some much needed premiership points in the bank.

TTU plays Yarram and Gormandale faces Cowwarr.
