BRETT Rollinson and Leanna Coupland led the charge at the Latrobe Valley Triathlon Club’s off-road duathlon series opener on Sunday, 29 May at the Crinigan Road Bushland Reserve.
Rollinson and Coupland were first male and female across the line in their respective sprint divisions in sunny yet cool conditions.
Some 20 athletes from both near and far took the challenge to traverse one of Latrobe City’s finest yet most unknown bushland reserve areas to kick off the season.
The course took athletes through a picturesque two kilometre loop of the bushland reserve area and 9km multi-lap course, which traced the HVP plantation.
It provided athletes with some fun downhills, challenging uphill climbs and water hazards.
The off-road duathlon series takes place on the last Sunday of the month in May, June, July and August at the Crinigan Road Bushland Reserve, Morwell.
The next off road race is Sunday, 26 June, with registrations taken on the day from 8.30am.
The LVTC Hazelwood Multisport Festival is also fast approaching on Saturday, 13 August 2016.
