The top five teams face the bottom five this weekend in what appears to be a one-way contest, but there could be some surprises in Mid Gippsland football.
Yinnar is hanging onto fourth position, which it has held since round 10, and should go into its match against bottom-placed Hill End with confidence after disposing of Boolarra last round.
The Magpies are continuing to team build on the eve of the finals campaign and should come out winners against the Hillmen.
However, Hill End recorded its second win of the season last weekend and should go into the final two home-and-away matches with the faint hope of victory.
The odds favour Yinnar, but next week could be a different matter when the Hillmen meet Thorpdale.
Morwell East has held onto fifth position since round 10, but earlier on in the season climbed to second.
However after some indifferent form the Hawks dropped to fifth and look set for its first finals berth since 2012.
Yarragon has bettered last year’s win rate but has not done enough to be considered a real challenger this season.
The Panthers’ first half was better than the second, but it has been a struggle.
The match should be a good tussle but Morwell East will edge out a determined Yarragon.
The George Lewis Trophy is up for grabs between Boolarra and Mirboo North.
The Tigers go in as favourites and are looking to boost their percentage ahead of finals.
They are sitting in second spot, currently four points ahead of third-placed Yallourn-Yallourn North but with inferior percentage.
Whether Mirboo North finishes second or third, it will play YYN in two weeks’ time in the qualifying final.
Boolarra has been underwhelming this season and now must look to building up its stocks for the 2017 campaign.
With more than a 105-game rivalry between the two, the contest will be fierce but Mirboo North should prove too strong.
LEAGUE leader Newborough has had a great season so far and should not encounter any issues when it meets Trafalgar.
The Bloods are having one of their worst seasons and have struggled with the departure of many players.
The good news is many of Trafalgar’s juniors have stepped up and are gaining experience at senior level.
The Bulldogs are storming through their matches and are on the back of a two consecutive 30-goal games.
It could easily make it three this weekend.
Thorpdale has had a rough year.
Midway through the season the Blues had a chance to grab fifth place but fell away.
But they are the best of the non-finalist teams.
Thorpdale faces another difficult match, this time against Yallourn-Yallourn North.
It will be difficult to dislodge YYN from third place.
The Bombers were expecting a better season but two losses each to Mirboo North and Newborough have kept it from finishing top of the table.
Overall YYN should be too good for Thorpdale and record a win.
