Records fall at Crinigan Road

Second-highest total, highest ever partnership, third-highest individual score.

Records tumbled on Saturday when St Vincent’s knocked up a monster 4/427 against the Newborough Bulldogs in Central Gippsland Cricket Association’s third grade competition on Saturday.

St Vincent’s mammoth total was the result of a 321-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Andrew Harris (125 not out) and Rob Harrington (225).

The pair smashed the previous highest third grade partnership record of 277, with Harrington’s knock the third highest in third grade history.

The pair came to the crease with the score at 3/87 and by the time Harrington departed the pair had moved the score to 4/408.

There was plenty of pain for the Bulldogs bowlers, with captain Peter Dougan using eight different bowlers during the innings.

It was a tactic that failed to yield much success, with the most economical bowler conceding 7.5 runs an over while the most expensive went for 16 runs an over.

Newborough was all out for 77 in response, with Dougan top scoring with 26 not out.
