Traralgon and District cricketers had their endurance tested this weekend when they played a two-day round over Saturday and Sunday.
Two-day games are usually played across two weeks to give players a chance to recover.
The only exception is the grand final, which is played across one weekend.
Playing across the one weekend gave Toongabbie and
Glengarry captain Sam Marks had no hesitation in batting first at the Traralgon Recreation Reserve.
It wasn’t long before Alistair Jenkin edged to slips and was out for 12.
Gun bat Hayden Ross Schultz’s horror start to the season continued when he was out for three.
Sam Marks top scored with 19, while Paul Henry made 14 as Glengarry was bundled out in 38 overs for a paltry 75.
With 42 overs to bat on the first day, the Sharks took complete control ending day one at 1/126.
Jimmy Pryde (20), Mitch
Resuming on Sunday,
Glengarry, batting a second time, finished 3/113 after 44 overs.
Rovers v CATS
CATS batted first at Duncan Cameron Park and was in big trouble when it slumped to 4/18.
Declan Wilson (0), Ben Julin (0), Jamie Cochrane (7) and Josh Keyhoe(8) all found themselves back in the pavilion.
A lower order recovery was set in place as skipper Dan Nicholls held the side together, top scoring with 53 as CATS scrambled to a competitive 151 all out.
Todd Mann was back fit again and was the pick of the bowlers with 3/37.
Rovers batted for 21 overs to reach 1/36.
Rovers caused the upset with a great win against CATS.
Stefan Sbaglia was the star for Rovers making his highest A grade score with 83, while Dougal Williams was stoic with 34 as Rovers made 217.
In an incredible spell, Stephen Morgan bowled 31 overs to take 8/78.
Toongabbie v Gormandale
Winning the toss, Gormandale elected to bat first and was in immediate trouble as it got bundled out for 78 in 40 overs.
Bowlers Josh Sandy (3/16), Callum Turner (3/10) and Jase Veneman (3/14) were
With 40 overs to bat on day one, the Rams were in no trouble, finishing the day with 1/116.
Toongabbie’s Jason Veneman (25), Callum Turner (60 not out) and Tim Garner (26 not out) were in fine form for the Tigers. Toongabbie eventually declared at 5/196.
The Tigers continued to struggle as they were all out for 100 in the 40th over.
Daniels top scored with 40 while Scott Gamble made 23 as Gormandale lost outright for the first time in years.
Tom Shippen, with four wickets, and Josh Sandy, with three, were far too good for the Tigers.
MTY Raiders v Imperials
Imperials batted first and made a competitive 157 off 65 overs.
Ryan Morley top scored with a well-made 40, while Brett Chapman chimed in with 37.
Lee Jensen was in top form for Raiders, snaring four wickets.
Ross Whelpdale and Alex Lawson both took two wickets.
Overnight Raiders were 1/39.

Traralgon West v Churchill
Traralgon West won the toss and elected to bat in its match against Churchill.
After 47 overs the Eagles were all out for 104.
Mark Williams shone with a gutsy 40 not out and Dylan Vickers was batting well before
In reply, Churchill was cruising as it reached 2/77 at the end of day one.
In an extraordinary first
Churchill declared at 8/144 leaving it 40 runs in front with 60 overs left in the day.
Seemingly heading for an easy outright win, the Cobras had Traralgon West 9/85 with 18 overs left in the day.
But in an epic final hour Luke Dabkowski and Dylan Vickers, who was nursing a torn shoulder, held firm and
John Keighran bowled well to take 4/12 off 18 overs while Paul Metlikovec took 3/34.
