Quantum Support Services clients and Morwell Neighbourhood House participants came together recently for the house’s Dignity Day at Federation Training in Traralgon.
Participants were treated to a massage, eyelash and eyebrow tinting and a shampoo and blow wave from Federation Training hair and beauty students.
Quantum Support Services acting program manager family violence Katrina Auld said the experience gave clients who had experienced family violence something to look forward to.
“It is free of charge and they are given special treatment,” she said.
“It is a time for them to engage as women and be looked after. A lot of them are mothers, partners, wives, so it gives them a chance to be themselves for a day.
“A lot of them say ‘I’ve never had anything like this before today’.”
Federation Training Traralgon program manager hair and beauty Emma Kyle said about 20 students participated.
“It’s a great day for us to give a bit back to the community,” she said.
“It’s a good opportunity for students to have their hands-on skills put to the test.”
Morwell Neighbourhood House manager Tracie Lund said the event supported community members to engage with other services.
“We’re thrilled to be here,” she said.
“It’s one of the best ones yet.”
