Two people have been charged after they were allegedly caught stealing copper from the former Morwell Power Station owned by EnergyBrix on Sunday.
Morwell police charged a 36-year-old Pakenham man and 21-year-old Morwell woman last night after they were arrested at the weekend.
They were charged with theft, going equipped to steal, possessing methylamphetamine and cannabis, possessing a weapon and trespass.
Police said the charges related to multiple incidents which took place at the site over the past week.
The man was bailed to appear before the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court at a later date while the woman will face court later today.
Attempted break-in
A Leongatha man was allegedly caught in the act trying to break into a pharmacy on Moore Street, Moe on Sunday morning.
Police allegedly caught the man trying to force the door open on the retail shop about 4.30am.
The 36-year-old man was charged with attempted burglary and resisting arrest and will face Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court later today.
Moe assault
Police are appealing for information after a 30-year-old man was assaulted inside his Evelyn Street, Moe home on Thursday night.
Detectives said the man was inside the property with his partner, child and another family member when three men gained entry to the property and demanded compensation for an alleged debt.
The man was assaulted before the men left the property. Anyone with information is asked to phone Latrobe Crime Investigation Unit on 5131 5000.
Man attacked outside home
A man was taken to hospital after he received minor head injuries and lacerations to his arm after three men assaulted him outside his Harvey Street, Moe home on Thursday night.
Detectives said two men turned up at the property at 7.30pm before leaving and later returning with a third man when they assaulted the man in the front yard of his property.
The 41-year-old suffered minor injuries and was taken to Latrobe Regional Hospital for observation.
Police said the men demanded to see a former tenant of the premises during the altercation.

Newborough bushland fires
Detectives are appealing for information after two fires were deliberately lit in bushland at Newborough on Thursday afternoon.
Police said the fires were lit in the Ollerton Avenue Bushland Reserve along the Moe-Yallourn Rail Trail.
About 50 firefighters responded to the fires which occurred about 4pm on Thursday, January 11.
