Golfing for Gordon

Ex Students Cricket Club life member Gordon Kerr was a genuine and giving soul who epitomised the values of his club.

When the stalwart was diagnosed with motor neuron disease, club mates launched in to action in a bid to help him fight.

The Annual MND Golf Classic was first run in 2016 to raise money to support Kerr in his health battle and now runs as a memorial event.

Event organiser Chris Robertson was a teammate of Kerr’s and described him as “a bloke who embraced friendship and camaraderie”.

“Gordon was a big, scary fast bowler on the field and took no prisoners,” Robertson said.

“Off the field he has many, many friends, was always willing to lend a hand and is sorely missed.”

Kerr was also a committee member at the Traralgon Golf Club and will be remembered when the third Annual MND Golf Classic tees off on Sunday, February 18.

The event will take the shape of a three-person Ambrose format with dedicated fun novelty holes scattered across the course.

Along with 18 holes of golf, there will be longest drive and nearest-to-the-pin prizes and refreshments available throughout the day.

Registration opens at 10.30am with a shotgun start at 11am.

Entry into the event is $50 per person or $150 for a team of three.

All proceeds raised on the day go towards MND – Finding a Cure.
