A group of people searching for a missing child in Traralgon at the weekend threatened a person with a gun, police say.
Detectives have launched an investigation after a group of people attended a Traralgon property on Saturday about 2am looking for a missing child.
Police said the group of people, two men and two women, attended the property and were let into the home on Glenview Drive, Traralgon.
“Upon leaving, one of the offenders decided to punch the [male] victim,” Detective Senior Constable Gerard Wursthorn said.
“The offenders were locked out of the house, so they proceeded to smash the windows.”
Police said the person inside the home armed himself with a knife “as he was in fear”.
“An offender has reached through a broken window, holding a hand gun, and demanded the victim drop the knife,” Detective Senior Constable Wursthorn said.
“The offenders then fled in two vehicles.”

Police investigate Traralgon car fire
Detectives are investigating a car fire after a man was seen walking from the vehicle about 1am on Sunday in Traralgon.
Police said the Holden Commodore sedan was set alight at the intersection of Kennedy Close and Ohehir Court in the early hours of Sunday.
A witness saw a man walking down Widdles Place about the time of the fire.
