There were only two matches played in a compact round five of the women’s Country Basketball League Gippsland Conference.
Moe were the only Latrobe Valley side in action with the Meteors recording a thumping 33-point win away from home over the struggling Korumburra Wildcats.
The match was evenly poised midway through the second quarter but Moe managed to open up an 18-point lead at the main break.
Matt Demczuk’s team pressed home the advantage in the second half to continue its perfect six-from-six start to the season.
Carly Mullen-Bianconi had an exceptional game for the Meteors, downing a season-best 40 points made up of 24 points from beyond the three-point line.
Moe will look to continue its 100 per cent record at 1pm on Sunday at home to Traralgon.
The match comes two weeks are the Meteors claimed a 79-63 victory over the T-Birds at the Traralgon Sports Stadium. The sides occupy the top two positions in the Gippsland Conference and though Moe have played a game less than Traralgon, the Meteors lead the T-Birds by three points with three rounds remaining.
The other match in round five came on Saturday evening with Warragul Warriors edging out Sale Sonics 70 to 67 at the Gippsland Regional Sports Complex. Kristy Glover went big for the Sonics, scoring 35 points including four three-pointers. Shanara Notman was the leading scorer for the winners, netting 26 points.
