Dylan Arvela
The return of LVDCL A Grade cricket saw a couple of massive victories while Yallourn North’s struggles continued at home to Trafalgar.
Jeeralang-Boolarra 57 def by Centrals 120
Centrals captain Dylan Freitag won the toss and elected to bat on the Apex Park wicket and he was perhaps regretting the decision when he was caught out for a duck.
His side struggled to go through the gears, going four wickets down with only 26 runs on the board with Panthers quick Matt McGrath taking all four scalps.
Sam Gray and Corey Pollard came together to put on a 61-run stand before the latter went for 26. Gray was out soon after for 30 with the Lions still yet to pass 100.
The side eked out 22 more runs before being bowled out for 120 in the 48th over.
McGrath finished with 4/22 while Rawson claimed 3/5.
Jeeralang-Boolarra were in a good position to get the result, but the top order failed to fire with Brett Duncan (14) the only batsman able to hit double figures.
Ross Allen snared opposition skipper Ben Heath for eight when hosts were on 46 runs.
This kick-started an incredible spell of bowling with the left arm off spinner taking six of the next seven wickets to bowl the Panthers out for 57.
Allen finished with figures of 6/5 off 6.1 overs. Marc Fenech and Dean White picked up two wickets each.
Yallourn North 9/154 def by Trafalgar 156
The Ships sent hosts Yallourn North, into bat and quick Jackson Noonan delivered the goods by claiming the wickets of opening duo, Stephen Boltong and Chris Sotiropoulous for a duck and one run respectively.
Captain Matt Brewer and Nick Hume also deliver goose eggs leaving Izaiah Lange to hold the innings together with an impressive 76.
Extras (28) was the next top scorer for the Bombers, followed by Curtis Howell (17) who came in at seven.
Yallourn North made 154 from 50 overs with Noonan and Leo Connolly the key bowlers with four wickets each.
Liam White (33) got Trafalgar off to a good start but he received little support from his fellow top order batsman until Leo Connolly came to the crease.
The pair put on a 120-run stand to give the Ships the upperhand and claim the points with with 16 overs to spare. Connolly finished with 84 not out, rounding off a top-notch individual display.

Traralgon West 142 def by Moe 8/223
Moe reasserted its dominance in the LVDCL second tier with a commanding win at Traralgon West Sports Complex on Saturday.
The hosts sent the Lions in to bat in what would have been seen as a crafty decision when Sean Spiteri was gone for naught.
Andrew Philip joined Nathan Lee at the crease and pit on 60 before Lee went for 30. Philip was dismissed by Nilantha Thillekarathna for 41 leaving the Lions at 4/79.
Moe captain Patrick Spiteri took control of the innings with a superb middle order knock of 84 which was complimented by Ben Maslen’s 33 which helped the league leaders to 8/223.
Thillekarathna finished with 4/21 while Ben Edebohls, who claimed both Spiteri’s, took 3/54.
Traralgon West were never able to find a rhythm in its run chase with skipper Tim Fitch (40) receiving little support from his top order, other than an Edebohls 19.
Bryan Griffiths came in a seven to score 24 but the Eagles never came close to reaching the sizable score, bowled out for 142 in the 48th over.
Lee was the best of the Moe bowlers, taking 4/34.
