The Schnitz Summer International Gold AMT event wrapped up in Traralgon on Sunday with French couple Vincent Stouff and Irina Ramialison taking out the men’s and women’s singles competitions.
Stouff went into the tournament as the fourth seed.
The 33-year-old made light work of Australian second seed Chen Dong in Saturday’s semi-final, beating the Queenslander 6-2 6-0 in 49 minutes.
In the final, he took on another Aussie in Alex Bulte, who he knocked off 6-4 6-0 in 76 minutes.
Stouff will play a part in the Australian Open, working as a hitting partner for American tennis ace and World No.11 Madison Keys.
On the other showcourt, top seed Ramialison was up against Australian fourth seed Natasha Russell in the women’s decider.
The first set was tightly contested, with the Frenchwoman winning 7-6 before going on to take the second 6-3.
Traralgon’s Ben Grumley and doubles partner Wihan Van Der Merwe lost out to Erik Holt-Crossman and Stouff 6-0 6-1 in the men’s doubles final while Roisin Gilheany and Stefi Webb beat Jasmine Adams and Evana Bowell 2-6 6-4 10-6 in the women’s doubles.
Grumley was knocked out of the men’s singles draw in the first round, losing 6-2 6-0 to Holt-Crossman while Trafalgar’s Alan Valenzuela was beaten 6-1 6-0 by sixth seed Cooper White.
Traralgon’s Eliza Dunbar showed her fighting spirit to beat Elim Yan 7-6 6-3 in the first round of the women’s draw before going down 6-1 7-5 to sixth seed Jasmine Adams.
The AMT event was the last hit out for Dunbar and Valenzuela before the qualifying round of the AGL Loy Yang Traralgon Junior International.
