COUNCIL staff working near Latrobe City Traffic School in Morwell this morning alerted authorities to a chemical odour.

Three fire trucks quickly attended at the scene while police blocked pedestrian access.

Traralgon Senior Station manager Glenn Ravenhall said the chemicals were secured within an hour of the call.

“There was a bag of acid concentrate for Chemotherapy dialysis found on the walkway adjacent to the creek,” Mr Ravenhall said.

“When we found it the bag was empty, but it was omitting a pungent odour, so we just took steps to secure the scene then secure the bag.”

Senior Station Officer Gavin Parker said the incident had been reported to the relevant authorities.

“We have contacted the EPA and we’re going to advise the EPA about what the product is, we will leave it to them to investigate where the origin of the product was and came from and if any further action is required,” he said.
