The Latrobe Valley recorded no increase in COVID-19 cases overnight with numbers remaining stable at 11 active cases.
That figure has dropped from a peak figure of 29 on August 14.
The most recent new case recorded was last Thursday.
Across Gippsland there are 19 active cases, with Latrobe 11, Wellington three, East Gippsland three, Bass Coast one and Baw Baw one.
Victoria recorded 148 new cases of coronavirus today, with 43 linked to outbreaks or complex cases and 105 under investigation.
Today saw eight new deaths from COVID-19 reported, lifting the state’s tally to 438.
Two men aged in their 70s, four women and one man aged in their 80s and one woman aged in her 90s.
On Sunday, Premier Daniel Andrews said it was important people across the state continued to follow the restrictions in place.
“It will be challenging this next two to three weeks,” he said.
“Because when you get down to these lower numbers, it just takes a few bad decisions. If we start opening up before we have defeated this second wave, then we will just be in the beginnings of a third wave.”
Victoria’s Chief Health Officer, Professor Brett Sutton, on Sunday, said he was confident that case numbers per day would not climb to 300-400.
“Sometimes they sound really trite to be repeating, but essentially the transmission that’s occurring is sometimes because people have forgotten those very basic, but very essential elements,” Prof Sutton said.
“Not washing your hands that one time, forgetting your mask, not wearing it properly, hugging someone who is outside your household.”
As of today, 2,119,199 test results have been received.
