Earthquake near Rawson

A 3.0 magnitude earthquake struck the region this morning.

The epicentre of the quake at a 5 kilometre depth was recorded near Rawson at 3.12am.

Five felt reports have been received by Geoscience Australia.

It is the second earthquake in as many months to hit the region.

A 2.8 magnitude earthquake hit on December 29, with the epicentre near Shady Creek.

In September 2021, a magnitude 5.9 earthquake was recorded with an epicentre near Woods Point.

It was the biggest earthquake to hit Victoria in the modern instrumental era.
