BOOLARRA will take on grand final stalwarts Morwell East in the A grade grand final on Saturday at Morwell.
Hawks coach and 2013 best and fairest winner Deirdre Greenwood said, with this game marking the Hawks 10th consecutive grand final, the girls were feeling well-prepared.
A 20 point win over Mirboo North in the preliminary final was an extra-boost in confidence that was hardly needed for the perpetual powerhouse.
“We’re just there to do one thing and that’s to win,” Greenwood said.
Conversely, Boolarra has not won a grand final in more than 30 years.
Boolarra coach Rebecca Crick, coming from Traralgon to Boolarra last year to coach A and B grade, said in her two years at the club it had only beaten Morwell East once – in the qualifying final by a point after the siren.
“I think it’s going to be another close one. A good contest, nice and hard, but good,” Crick said.
“We’ve just had such great support from everyone at the club.
“During the two finals the supporter group really helped the girls get over the line.
“Hopefully with the boys and the committee and everyone cheering us on the girls will see and hear that and get over the line this weekend.”
