LABOR candidate for Morwell at this year’s state election and former Latrobe City councillor Tracie Lund has launched legal action against Churchill local Taylah Ling.
Ms Ling, a One Nation operative, is a prominent voice on local matters.
Supporters call her a political commentator; opponents simply an agitator.
Ms Ling’s social media page has more than 7000 followers, and she guest stars on a weekly community radio program talking about council and local politics.
She is being sued by Ms Lund, who is seeking damages through the County Court.
It is alleged Ms Ling made a series of defaming social media posts about Ms Lund secreting public money from a local charity to fund her election campaigns.
Ms Lund denies the allegations and claims the posts have caused her reputational harm.
Ms Lund stepped down as the Morwell River Ward councillor earlier this year, and ran as an independent at the 2022 state election.
The two have history dating back a number of years.
