Women dressed perfectly from hat to heel will flock to the Latrobe Valley Racing Club in Traralgon for Ladies’ Day on Saturday.
With horses in the back of their minds and fashions at the front, women young and old will have prepared their outfits to impress, whether they choose to enter Fashions on the Field or simply spend the day enjoying the atmosphere of the Spring Racing Carnival.
“Because it’s Ladies’ Day, which is also Derby Day, there’s always a lot of black and white so lots of people go with that, but at the moment the spring trend is still a lot of colour,” former face of Country Racing Breanne Beatson said.
Ms Beatson said whether women go black and white or structured and bright, the season so far had seen styles never accepted before.
“Patterns are really big, there’s a lot of floral, a lot of asymmetrical styles, peplum is still really big and leather is quite big at the moment,” she said.
“I think leather is slowly becoming more acceptable for spring, it used to be more of an autumn or winter theme.”
While tight and colourful is acceptable, Ms Beatson said women should make sure they were not looking for dresses they would wear to nightclubs.
“From the fashions I’ve seen so far this season, a lot of the lengths are longer this year, even knee length or three-quarter-length, and there are a lot of very structured outfits too, with capes being very popular,” she said.
“Good luck to everyone and though I hope it’s kind, remember to dress appropriately for the weather,” she said.
