TRARALGON Department of Primary Industry officers have been largely unaffected by State Government moves to sure up public sector efficiency.
Six DPI officers currently based at the Department of Sustainability offices in Hotham Street will be relocating to DPI offices on Grey Street in a regional office shakeup.
Agriculture Minister Peter Walsh announced on Tuesday seven DPI offices across the west and north of the state would be closed, while DPI staff would be relocated from 15 regional DSE offices, including Orbost, Maffra and Swift’s Creek.
This comes as the State Government seeks to shed 4200 jobs from the public sector, of which the Victorian Public Services Federation union estimates will impact more than 500 DPI positions, a figure Mr Walsh has disputed.
