The Latrobe Valley Yacht Club’s annual Sauna Sail regatta went off without a hitch on Saturday.

Around 140 competitors from across Victoria made the trek to Hazelwood Pondage, to compete in one of Victoria’s biggest off-beach sailing competitions.

LVYC Commodore Glenn Rogers was “very pleased” with how the event turned out.

“It’s been fantastic – the wind on Saturday was a bit light, but today (Sunday) has been incredible and we’ve had some great racing,” Rogers said.

The event was first held in the mid-1960s and has a strong following in the sailing community.

“It’s a very unique event because of the location and the nature of the waterway,” Rogers said.

“Most other events of the type (off beach) are like national championships, so this is really different.”

Races will conclude today.
