Extreme weather ahead

A Total Fire Ban has been declared statewide, with temperatures expected to hit 36 degrees Celsius in the Latrobe Valley on Friday.

According to the Country Fire Authority, there is a ‘Severe’ Fire Danger Rating for all of the state except Gippsland, which will be ‘Very High’.

No fires can be lit in the open air from 12.01am on 11 January until 11.59pm.

Forecast lightning strikes and no rain this afternoon and overnight is expected to pose a serious fire risk.
