Man charged following double fatality

A Traralgon man is due to appear in Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court today over a double fatality collision which occurred in Glengarry early Saturday morning.

Robert Saunders, 19, was arrested by the Major Collision Investigation Unit at 3pm Saturday, and has been charged with two counts of culpable driving causing death.

The man was remanded in custody for today’s hearing, after facing an out of sessions hearing at Traralgon Police Station on Saturday.

According to Victoria Police Media, the utility was carrying six people when it left the Maffra-Traralgon Road, Glengarry at 2.40am, before rolling onto its roof and ejecting several occupants.

First police on the scene conducted CPR but two people died from their injuries while another man was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital in a critical condition.
