The State Emergency Service has issued a flood prepare to evacuate notification for homes near the Traralgon Creek.
Minor flooding is predicted for the creek this evening and is likely to exceed the moderate flood level of four metres overnight tonight and possibly rise to above 4.5m early Friday morning.
The SES is advising anyone in the area to prepare to evacuate.
The potential impact of the flooding may include water over the floor on some properties, road closures and isolation of properties in streets adjacent to the Traralgon Creek and flooding of the Stockland Plaza car park.
Latrobe Valley towns received 40 to 70 millimetres of rain in the last 24 hours, Latrobe Valley Airport has recorded 62.2mm.
The Traralgon Creek received 75mm last night and 73mm fell in Balook.
