Talks go backwards

The latest attempt to reach an enterprise agreement for locked out Yallourn workers has again passed without resolution, with no further commitments set to re-continue negotiations.

A conciliation hearing in front of the Fair Work commission on Tuesday, between Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union and owner operator EnergyAustralia, concluded with both parties labelling the negotiation as a backwards step.

About 75 operators continue to man a protest camp outside the power station in shifts, while about 40 maintenance workers, also covered by the agreement under negotiation, have continued to attend work at the station.
