Operation Christmas appeal

Volunteers from the ItalianAustralian Club have helped launch the 2013 Latrobe Regional Hospital Christmas Appeal.

LRH chief medical officer Dr Simon Fraser said the appeal aimed to raise $65,000 for the purchase of an adjustable operating table – a vital piece of equipment for use in one of the hospital’s operating theatre.

“The table has the ability to be adjusted to suit the patient and the operation being performed,” Dr Fraser said.

“This flexibility is very important.

“Our goal is always efficient and gentle patient treatment in an ideal working environment.”

The hospital is hoping the community will open its heart and loosen the purse strings again this Christmas to assist in the purchase of the table.

LRH board chair Kellie O’Callaghan said every donation counted.

Ms O’Callaghan said donations to the Christmas Appeal could be made online.

“Donors also have the option of making a donation in lieu of a Christmas gift,” she said.

“Get online and make Christmas giving easy.

“It really is the perfect gift for the person who already has everything. Just think, you can give the gift of vital equipment for our hospital, which will really benefit patient care. What an amazing present to give someone this Christmas.”

The Italian Australian Club donated $5500 to kick off the appeal.

To donate online, go to www.lrh.com.au or phone the fundraising team on 5173 8577 to make a donation over the phone.
