Five local organisations have shared in $68,230 funding to help tackle family violence from the Indigenous Family Violence Community Initiative, Member for Morwell Russell Northe announced today.
Mr Northe said the projects were community-led initiatives that aimed to prevent, reduce and respond to family violence in Aboriginal communities.
The funding went to the Aboriginal Family Violence Prevention Legal Service, Central Health Gippsland, Indigenous Family Violence Regional Action Group, Budjeri Narpin Association Inc and the Victorian Aboriginal Community Services Association, which all operate in Latrobe City.
The organisations’ various projects aim to raise awareness; prevent and reduce Elder abuse; develop local responses to family violence; provide animal therapy and promote personal health and wellbeing.
