Community voices needed

An advocate for change has called on Narracan electorate residents to voice their opinions before it is too late.

Passionate community member Michael Fozard said he was disappointed with the poor turnout to a forum he organised last Thursday for residents to share their concerns and wish-lists ahead of the November state election.

“We got about six or seven people. I was hoping to get more,” Mr Fozard said.

“Those who did turn up were passionate, but the lack of numbers really disappointed me.”

Mr Fozard said despite the setback, he would continue to campaign for better community representation on important issues.

He said concerns raised at the meeting included the current education system, not adequately preparing job-seekers for the workforce, the need for a new West Gippsland hospital, and the condition of roads, particularly the Princes Highway.

However, he wanted to hear from more members of the community, and encouraged anyone to phone him or post on a newly formed Facebook group page: Community Power.

“We’re only as strong as the people want us to be. We rely on their support and contribution to make us something of a force… and hopefully an impact,” Mr Fozard said. To voice your opinions, phone Michael Fozard on 0418 513 092.
