A 24 year-old woman was found safe on Sunday after she went missing on a walk through Morwell National Park the previous day.
The Jeeralang Junction resident, who took a bottle of water and her mobile phone, had an estimated return of two hours.
Latrobe community liaison officer Leading Senior Constable Brett Godden said the woman had taken a hand-drawn mud-map of the area, because she was taking a new route, and had embarked on the walk at 3pm Saturday.
Ldg Snr Const Godden said she lost her surroundings, however, and had difficulty using her phone.
“She did the right thing – she sat down and waited for sunrise to come around,” he said.
Ldg Snr Const Godden said the woman was located by her partner at 9am on Sunday, and an ambulance was called in as a precaution.
“Just be prepared when you go out – make sure you’ve got water and adequate clothing,” he said.
“More importantly, make sure you let someone know where you’ve gone.”
