Aggravated burglary in Traralgon

Two men were assaulted in their home on Priestly Court, Traralgon on Saturday evening.

Police said a party of two men and possibly a woman known to the victims entered the property about 11pm and began assaulting one of the men.

The other man acted as a mediator trying to stop the assault and sustained a large gash to his hand, police said.

Latrobe Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating the incident.

Suspicious grass fire

A small grassfire was lit in McNairn Road, Traralgon on Saturday evening.

Police said about 6.30pm, witnesses noticed a grass fire along the fence line near the Shakespeare Street intersection and notified emergency services.

Witnesses saw a group of youths playing football in the neighbouring paddock before hand who fled the scene shortly before the fire was noticed, according to police.

Personal property set alight

Latrobe CIU are appealing for witnesses to a fire at the front of a Newborough residence yesterday.

Police said about midnight, the victim’s personal property was set alight on a nature strip.

Neighbours assisted in extinguishing the fire but did not see who ignited it.
