Lobbying for duplication of sections of the Gippsland rail line is set to continue, after the long-called for upgrade failed to attract funding in the state budget.
Gippsland will see new carriages introduced into V/Line services in coming years as part of a $286 million order of 21 new VLocity carriages.
Meanwhile, $2 million has been fast-tracked to enable works on 52 regional level crossings to start “as soon as possible” as part of a $50.5 million allocation.
