TRARALGON local Steve Gray became a world champion on Friday.
After years of coming close, Gray clinched the Masters Eight Ball World Singles Championship in Blackpool, England, avenging last year’s runner-up finish.
Gray reversed the result of last year’s grand final, defeating reigning champion Keith Brewer to claim the title.
The victory continued a trend of improvement at the championship; Gray bowed out in the semi-finals in 2013, came second in 2014, and is now the 2015 winner.
The Latrobe Valley Eight Ball star also captained the Australian Masters team to a second-place finish in the teams event, after consecutive semi-final exits.
