Two men have been charged with the alleged attempted murder of a police officer in Moonee Ponds.
Police arrested a 22 year-old Morwell man and 24 year-old Oak Park man early this morning in relation to the alleged incident on Tuesday, 7 July.
Armed Crime Squad Detectives have charged the men with attempted murder, use of firearm to prevent arrest, prohibited possession of firearm, criminal damage by fire (arson), reckless conduct endangering life/serious injury and theft of motor vehicle.
The men will face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a remand hearing this afternoon.

A 22 year-old man was arrested in Morwell this morning in relation to an alleged shooting of a police officer in Moonee Ponds on Tuesday, 7 July.
Another man, aged 24, was arrested north of Melbourne in Oak Park.
State Anti-Gangs Division police executed search warrants this morning and both men are in custody and assisting police with enquiries.
Several properties are being searched in relation to the investigation.
